Antibiotics are taken for a long period of time and a number of times and can not be very effective if your pet has HAD the disease for a long period of time. Occasionally, your veterinarian to see whether antibiotics can cure the disease. But if your pet is bitten again, the disease may return. So the best treatment for Lyme disease is prevention.
